It's a wyver one. It's near the market place. Open fairly late. I'll see you there.
[ For good measure he texts a map as well as well as the name of the bar. In about an hour's time Sen would be sitting at a table shuffling a dick with a jug of ale and two large tankards. One in front of him still full, the other empty on the opposite end of the table. ]
I'd hope it's a wyver one, I'm not quite in the mood to make an olympia trip for some drinks and a game. open late is my favorite kind of place. see you.
[ but the map makes it about a hundred times easier, and vax takes off - wandering through the city a bit before he makes it to the tavern, stepping inside and easily finding sen at the table. ]
Not at all. It gave me some time to practice my shuffling technique.
[ The answer is given with a smile as he pushes the jug of ale towards Vax's side of the table. He begins dealing the cards as they approach as he looks to the other. ]
I hope you found the place all right. Hopefully, no made extremists stopped you on your way here.
Maybe. Only if I put a blood curse on these cards. Which I might have. We'll have to see.
[ The tone clearly says he's kidding though. He's not hiding anything malicious as he finishes dealing out the entire deck. ]
Well, I thought we could play Wicked Grace, a game from my world; however, that may take too long to teach you how it works. So I learned of this new game.
[ He picks up his cards, taking a drink of his own as he does. ]
It's called "Old Maid." The basic premise is you get rid of all your doubles and have to try and be the first one with no cards. However, the joker card is left inside the deck leaving the one odd card for someone to get. You lose if you are the one with the "Old Maid" and the other player has an empty hand.
Blood curses? This is a little more intense than I signed up for.
[ but he can also read the tone, and hear the playfulness in it, and vax isn't worried. he listens to the rules, listens to the restrictions, and nods. ]
I thought you were a man of risk. Considering what we dealt with.
[ But, they accept it and that's all that he needed to hear. When the cards are dealt Sen begins pulling out his doubles and setting them aside until his hand is emptied of all but seven cards. Unfortunately for him he has the Joker. Well, best not to allude to where it was in his hand.
But it'd be boring if they played in silence so he decides to strike up conversation. So casually he just asks; ]
How have you been by the way? After everything that happened with those extremists and the evacuations it's understandable for people to harbour some ill feelings.
Oh, I am. But magic is still new to me. I’ll take a risk like the next troublemaking rogue you see hanging about, but there are some lines I try to avoid crossing.
[ vax looks over his cards, setting his down and getting his hand in order as well. he’s not an obsessive card player by any means, but a good portion of the time his good luck can come in handy.
at sen’s questions, vax gives an easy shrug, still organizing his cards as he starts to answer. ]
I’m not sure where I stand about this whole place, if I’m being honest. [ he pulls out a card, and then thinks better about it, his eyes still on his hand. ] I’ve no vested interest either way, as long as my family’s safe. [ a beat, and then he looks up to sen. ] What about you?
[ Was he at Sera levels of risk or in a league of his own? Things Sen needed to know.
They would begin to play now, Sen all but reaching over to take one of Vax's cards per the rules, but stops. The answer to his question and hi being asked the same leaves him to pause for a moment. How has he been indeed.
Definitely it felt more of a loaded question, but, he'd try and answer simply as he pulls a card from Vax;]
Honestly? It reminds me far too much of the troubles I encountered back home. Lots of finger pointing, countries bickering over the most trivial of things while the world burns down around them. It's exhausting if I'm being cut and dry about it.
[ Perhaps, he was just that much of a bleeding heart to care so much of the politics of this place, alas he didn't have an answer. He does add however; ]

I'm pretty good at avoiding eyes. Especially this time of the night. So what're we playing?
